Emergence of quasiperiodic Bloch wave functions in quasicrystals

We study the emergence of quasiperiodic Bloch wave functions in quasicrystals, employing one-dimensional Fibonacci model as a test case. find that despite fact are not eigenfunctions themselves, superpositions relatively small numbers nearly degenerate give rise to extended functions. These possess structure earlier ancestors underlying potential, and it is often possible obtain different around same energy. There exists an effective crystal momentum characterizes these ancestors, which determined by mean energy superimposed eigenfunctions, giving dispersion curve. also do emerge when weak disorder introduced into otherwise perfect potential. theoretical results may explain number experimental observations, have practical consequences on emerging theories band topology correlated electrons quasicrystals.
